Line Magnetic LM-805IA Single-Ended Integrated Amplifier
The 805 is a transmitter triode — designed originally for radio broadcast applications, built to handle plate voltages and power dissipation that conventional audio output tubes don't approach. Line Magnetic pulled it out of the broadcast world and put it at the center of a single-ended Class A integrated amplifier because the 805's directly heated thoriated tungsten filament, large glass envelope, and inherent linearity produce something that push-pull amplifier designers spend careers trying to approximate: a midrange that sounds like the recording is happening in the room rather than being reproduced from it.
48 watts per channel in pure Class A, single-ended. Not push-pull, not Class A/B at low listening levels — fully single-ended, both channels, all the time. Mundorf N-Cap capacitors throughout. ALPS potentiometer. Point-to-point wiring, not boards. Output taps at 4, 8, and 16 ohms. Three line inputs plus a bypass. Front panel meters for tube bias. Frequency response 10Hz to 50kHz. 93 lbs of it.
