TEAC PD-505T CD Transport
TEAC built their reputation in the CD transport world on one idea: the disc mechanism is where performance lives, and it deserves the same engineering attention as the electronics around it. The PD-505T is a dedicated CD transport — no DAC onboard, no analog output stage, just the digital signal delivered cleanly to whatever converter the buyer wants to pair with it. The "T" designation means transport, and that purity of purpose is the point.
TEAC's transport mechanisms from this era were built with a level of rigidity and vibration control that consumer disc players typically didn't approach. A stable disc read means a cleaner digital output, which means less work for the jitter-reduction circuitry in the downstream DAC. For a listener who has invested in a quality external DAC and wants to make the most of it, a dedicated transport is the right source component.
