Shunyata Research Taipan Helix Alpha Power Cord — 2m IEC
Shunyata builds power cables in Poulsbo, Washington, and the Taipan Helix Alpha is from the generation of their lineup that established the argument that power delivery matters in a high-resolution system. The Helix geometry arranges OFE copper conductors in a hollow helical configuration — the geometry lowers the cable's inductance and reduces the electromagnetic field the cable radiates, which in a system sensitive enough to reveal it, translates to a lower noise floor.
The Alpha sits above the Taipan VX in the original lineup — fluoropolymer dielectric throughout, high-mass IEC and AC connectors, shielding that addresses both conducted and radiated interference. Two meters gives enough length to reach a power conditioner without strain and without coiling excess cable near the component it's feeding.
Power cords generate more skepticism per dollar than almost any other cable category, and some of it is earned. But Shunyata has been consistent enough in their engineering rationale and their measurements that the conversation around their cables is different from the broader power cord market.
