Audio Research Reference 75 Power Amplifier
When ARC says “Reference,” it means business. The Reference 75 arrived as the mid-line power amp that bridges tradition and modern tube voicing—handling both nuance and force with equal conviction. With a circuit built around four KT120 output tubes and two 6H30 driver tubes, it delivers 75 watts per channel continuously from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a frequency response stretching from the single digits on the low end all the way to around 60 kHz on top.
At full rated output, distortion sits around 0.6%, dropping below 0.05% at 1 watt—proof that this amplifier isn’t content to simply “play loud,” but to stay composed while doing it. Input sensitivity is 1.4V RMS via the balanced XLRs, and the input impedance is a generous 300 kilohms. Slew rate is approximately 10 V/µs, rise time about 4 microseconds — details that translate into speed, clarity, and control.
Physically, it’s ARC to the core: a 19" wide chassis, 8.75" tall, 19.5" deep, tipping the scales at 47 lbs. Big, purposeful handles, rock-solid build, and that unmistakable Audio Research aesthetic.
