McIntosh MAC1900 Solid State AM/FM Receiver
The McIntosh MAC-1900 Solid State AM/FM Receiver is a classic high-end stereo receiver from the 1970s that combines McIntosh’s legendary build quality with a full AM/FM tuner and robust amplifier in one chassis. It was produced from roughly 1973 to 1978 and remains highly respected among vintage audio enthusiasts for its performance and industrial design.
It delivers 55 watts per channel (RMS) into 4 Ω/8 Ω loads with very low distortion (under 0.20 %) and wide frequency response, giving clean, detailed sound that’s richer and more controlled than many contemporaries.
The receiver’s tuner section features solid-state AM and FM reception with a multiplex decoder for stereo FM, and front panel controls for tuning, balance, bass, treble, and source selection.
Physically it carries McIntosh’s iconic styling with a glass front panel and classic meters, and includes multiple speaker outputs and pre-outs for integrating external amplification.
Today the MAC-1900 is sought after both as a functioning classic stereo receiver and as a collectible piece of hi-fi history.
The 7.5 rating is due to the case having some cosmetic challenges, the unit it self is 8/10.
