Laiv Harmony DAC — Balanced Discrete R2R Ladder
The Harmony is built around a discrete R2R resistor ladder network — a fundamentally different approach to digital-to-analog conversion than the delta-sigma chips that dominate the DAC market at most price points. Where delta-sigma designs oversample aggressively and apply digital noise-shaping to achieve their measurements, an R2R ladder converts each digital word directly using a precision network of resistors, one per bit. The result tends to measure differently than a modern delta-sigma chip and sound different too — warmer in the upper frequencies, with timing behavior that many listeners describe as more analog in character.
"Discrete" means the resistor network is built from individual components rather than an integrated multibit chip — more labor-intensive, more component-count, and more opportunity to get it right at every stage. The fully balanced architecture keeps the two channels separated from input to output, with balanced XLR outputs alongside single-ended RCA, and the noise floor benefits that come from a true differential signal path rather than a single-ended design with a balanced adapter bolted on the end.

We offer a 3-day return window on all purchases. Returns made to a credit or debit card will incur a 5 percent processing fee. Shipping costs, both to and from, are the responsibility of the customer if applicable.
After the 3-day window and up to 3 weeks from the date of purchase, items may still be returned, subject to a 20 percent restocking fee.
For shipped orders, customers must notify us within 3 days of receiving the item to initiate a return. Once the item is received back in the same condition it was sent, we will issue a refund minus all shipping charges and a 5 percent credit card processing fee.
