KEF LS50 Meta Bookshelf Speakers — Black

The LS50 was already one of the most acclaimed bookshelf speakers ever made when KEF released it in 2012. The Meta is the update that addressed the one thing the original left on the table: the rearward radiation from the tweeter dome, which bounced back through the driver and colored the sound in ways that measurements showed but listeners debated. KEF's Metamaterial Absorption Technology — a precisely engineered maze-like structure mounted behind the tweeter — absorbs 99% of that rearward energy before it can return to the diaphragm. The result is a cleaner midrange and a top end with less of the subtle grain that the original LS50 carried.

Everything else that made the LS50 the reference it became is still here: the 12th-generation Uni-Q driver with the tweeter mounted at the acoustic center of the mid-bass cone, the point-source imaging that puts instruments exactly where they belong, and the ability to disappear in a room and leave only the music. Small in scale, uncompromising in execution.

Requires stands. Works best with quality amplification that can manage the 85dB sensitivity — this is a speaker that will reward the system around it.
