Bowers & Wilkins 805 D4 Standmount Speakers — Walnut

The 805 has been one of the most consistently referenced standmount speakers in high-end audio for decades. The D4 generation brings the Diamond dome tweeter, Continuum cone driver, and Matrix cabinet bracing that define the current 800 Series — compressed into a two-way enclosure that does things with imaging and midrange transparency that most floorstanding speakers, at any price, don't approach.

The reason is geometry. A standmount this size gets the tweeter and midrange driver into near-ideal proximity, with no additional drivers introducing phase complications or cabinet resonance below. In a well-treated room on the right amplification — and the 805 D4 will tell you when it has both — the soundstage locks in with a precision that genuinely surprises people hearing it for the first time.

The Walnut finish is real wood veneer. It reads warmer in a room than the gloss finishes and pairs well with natural materials and wood furniture.

Matching FS-805 D4 stands available separately — designed specifically for this speaker and worth having. Running the 805 D4 on generic stands is leaving performance on the table.
