Anthem Statement A5 Five-Channel Power Amplifier

The engineering is conventional in the best sense: modular construction, a four-layer board topology, mirror-imaged channel matching for consistent frequency response, eight bipolar output devices per channel, hand-matched input devices, a large toroidal supply and oversize convection-cooled heatsinks. Each channel connects directly to the capacitor bank, keeping output impedance low and holding composure into difficult loads. 16,400 µF of capacitance per channel is reserve you’ll never fully call on, which is rather the point.

There are no output fuses — a short trips the AC breaker instead, and the standby supply protects itself with self-resetting thermistors. Nothing to replace, nothing between the transistors and the speaker.

In a five-channel system it does the obvious job without strain. In two channels it does the less obvious one: it stays out of the way.
